IFSC Speed World Cup 2010
The international annual speed-climbing eventSpeed climbing worldwide is synonymous with Speed Rock, the toughest and most spectacular event on the World Cup circuit; eight editions of this event have been held in Trentino’s Valle di Daone. In recent years, Speed Rock has been joined by another speed-climbing event hosted in Trento for the Italian leg of the World Cup. The IFSC Speed World Cup 2010 returns to the city of Trento against the backdrop of Piazza Dante. The world’s best speed climbers compete in an adrenalin-fuelled vertical race against time and gravity.
The IFSC Speed World Cup 2010 is organised by the Speed Rock Committee in association with Asd Rock Master; it will take place on a wall certified by the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), which was used for the first time last May in Trento. In the quarter finals that year, Chinese climber Qixin Zhong set a new world record on a 15-metre wall: an unbelievable 7.22 seconds, smashing his own previous world record of 7.35 seconds. Will the record be beaten again this year?
